Should it stay or should it go ?

Postby AndyG » Fri Feb 19, 2010 1:14 pm

I am starting to think seriously about selling C515EME at the end of spring. It just doesn't get driven and used as it should. If I do get decide to get rid I will sell with all spare parts which include bits of clutch, old devil exhaust, old shocks, spare intercooler, set of K-jet parts etc....etc..Plus all bills, all manuals etc....I can't have anything lying around to remind me of it.

The car is a genuine 8221, but is RHD ..converted when imported I believe. Condition is pretty reasonable, not perfect but excellent for its age and just requires some minor cosmetic detailing.
Showing about 90,000km on the clock.
Head recently overhauled by Salc Sacco and the inlet manifold matched up. New rear suspension bottom arms, new tyres and fully MOT'ed.

I only mention all this just in case anyone is interested before I get around to putting it on Ebay (or not).

Early days as yet and this is more of an emotional than financial decision, but I am thinking around £12k.

(some people may remember that I had this car on Ebay before, but it didn't make the reserve, part of that process was to convince my wife that car had a value. But as the car has travelled no more than 20miles since that exercise over 3 yrs ago you've got to ask yourself whats the benefit apart from pure ownership. - And the fact that I have enjoyed dismantling and rebuilding most parts over that time).

HI Andy, I hope you don't mind me adding these photos from your car's 15 minutes of fame back in September 1989 issue of Supercar Classics magazine? How's the Wood & Pickett interior held up during the past 21 years?

Michael,

Thanks for that. The interior has actually worn very well...a bit of wear on the right hand bolster of the drivers seat, but I always find thats a problem with leather. And you do get used to the colour which is slightly darker than the cream in the pictures. I have replcaed the instrument surround with standard black which helps...and I got a full facia for the day that I finally admitted it was a bit tasteless.

I don't think the facia is tasteless! It was done that way by W&P - keep it like that if you can.

You have to resize pictures before uploading them... Do it in your favourite application or download the gimp (a free photo editing package) from

http://www.gimp.org

Thanks,

Andrew

The car has now moved on to pastures new. Not an easy decision, but hopefully someone will get more use out of it tha I did.
After all its a car and should be driven and not sat locked away in my garage.
